Outback, arid & interstate

Occasionally we have left our local region of Gippsland, Victoria and scheduled a nature tour to share the amazing landscapes and natural history of some arid areas.

Our favourite, that has remained our program, is to the northwest corner of Victoria with its Mallee and Murray River landscapes where we find an incredible variety of birdlife, so our focus is on birdwatching (Birds of Hattah Kulkyne & Murray Sunset tour).  Nature experiences of all sorts present themselves and in these dry environments, reptiles are another wildlife group that features strongly.  Interesting plants with wildflowers in season (often after rain at any time of year), along with rich Aboriginal and European settlement history add more layers of interest to learn about.

Previously we have travelled to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia with its rich birdlife, wildlife and classic landscapes which was anotehr firm favourite.  As we no longer offer interstate tour we recommend you book an outback or arid tour with our trusted colleagues at Inala Nature Tours. Their Outback South Australia Tour - fossils & Opals  provides similar arid land nature experiences with the additional of some expert specialist guide and Inala are currently gathering a list of interested people ready to schedule the next departure. More details including itinerary and contact link are found here and their website provides many other interstate tour options.

We are delighted to recommend to you this amazing Nature tour to Outback South Australia being offered by out colleagues at Inala Nature Tours. Tonia from Inala Nature Tours says-

This tour takes advantage of the sunny yet mild weather in Autumn, so you can enjoy this remarkable region in relative comfort. This tour is co-led by Dr Tonia Cochran of Inala Nature Tours, and Ben McHenry from the South Australian Museum who will provide commentary on the rare geological wonders of the Outback and give us behind-the-scenes access to an internationally significant fossil site."
