Croajingolong & coast

Croajingolong National Park covers a long stretch of the far east coast of Victoria and is part of Australia’s Coastal Wilderness Landscape. Much of this is a wild remote coastline, with cliffs, rugged rocky headlands (and lighthouses) and of course some beautiful long white sandy beaches.

But its not all about the ocean, Croajingolong includes beautiful coastal forests, small peaks with great views, heathlands, rivers, lakes and estuaries. All of these are rich in nature experiences with a very long list of birds and other wildlife. Best of all, there are few visitors except in peak holiday periods. It’s not unusual for our small group to be the only people on the beach, visiting a lookout or enjoying wildflowers beside a track.

Sadly large areas of the Croajingolong Coast were impacted bushfires over summer 2019-20. Post fire regeneration is amazing but everything looks different to before. Pt Hicks Lighthouse remains closed post fire so our longer Croajingolong tours are not availabe, but we are offering a short tour to Mallacoota area.

For those who would like to explore Mallacoota area independently we can thoroughly recommend staying at Gipsy Point Lodge with beautiful accommodation and meals. It is the perfect desination to unwind and relax or explore and be active - you choose!

Mallacoota & Croajingolong in Springtime

Springtime around Mallacoota at the far east tip of Victoria promises great birdwatching, wildlife experiences and spring wildflowers displays in Croajingolong National Park. Like much of East Gippsland, Mallacoota, Gipsy Point and the surrounding area were impacted by bushfires in the horror summer of 2019-20, so fire impacts will be obvious but nature’s regeneration is fascinating and beauty is returning, if somewhat different to before. Jenny is teaming up with Tonia from Inala Nature Tours, to offer a week of nature experiences exploring from Snowy River National Park in the mountains to the Gippsland Lakes and Croajingolong on the coast. The summer 2019-20 bushfires tore through large swathes of East Gippsland under extreme weather conditions and we visit both burnt and unburnt areas. Learn about threatened species recovery programs, discover birdlife and spring wildflower displays as well as meeting local wildlife and gaining an insight into how both nature and local communities recover from fire. Add a generous sprinkling of history, a waterfall or two, plus time to pause and soak up breathtaking landscapes for a very rewarding and enlightening week.
